East FC kicked off the new season with a memorable weekend at the Grand Rapids Cup, with eight teams reaching championship matches and seven bringing home tournament titles.

The results made for plenty of great moments, but the best part of the weekend went well beyond medals and trophies.

For many of our teams, this was the first opportunity of the new season to compete together. Players were reconnecting with returning teammates, welcoming new ones, building relationships and beginning to discover what their identity will look like as a group.

That is exactly what preseason is for.

The Grand Rapids Cup gave our coaches and players an opportunity to learn, experiment, compete and identify the areas where there is still work to be done. There is a lot of soccer ahead of us this year, and one successful weekend is only the beginning.

But there is also value in celebrating the work that goes into moments like these.

So, for now, enjoy the celebrations. You earned them.
